9:06 am - I did not start Dr. Oz's 7 Day Belly Workout the other day, maybe today. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. I am not too worried about when I start that, I just need to keep walking. Until that task is instilled in my day to day tasks just as checking my email or having a cup of coffee is I cannot stop.
I have been working since 7 am and have enough work to keep me busy for the next month. Bookkeeping, newsletters, new year organizing, making, selling, writing...it all has to be done. So does my daily walk...
Everyday I feel like I am juggling many different things, pulling me in many different directions. I have to be able to change focus instantly and then have to be able to go back in to what I was working on. For instance, as I tried to write this last sentence the phone rang 3 times for our business. Yahooo, love it when the phone rings because that means we have work!
While the day does go by fast, I fear that it will go by with out my daily walk from time to time. Priorities.
11:56 pm - I am having a hard time concentrating on work today, I really just feel like writing so I will have to do both. As the day goes by, the phone continues to ring and more work is created :) It is a double edge sword when you are already behind...
1:06 pm - Still longing for a walk! Got a few more things that HAVE to be done today and then it looks like a late afternoon walk! Thank you, Mom for coming over to entertain the little one.
3:18 pm - Just got back from a nice walk around the woods with my Mom and daughter. Motivation did not come easy today but a break from the office was desperately needed and a walk was the perfect way to get away. However it comes I will take it! Here is an image of the area we sometimes walk. Beautiful, huh?
The thoughts of a woman I am woman who is trying to find enlightenment in the wacky world that we live in...mentally, physically and spiritually.

Day 6 - If you want something bad enouph...
8:14 am - I knew that today would be a challenge. Finding time to fit exercise into my schedule has always been the biggest challenge and has been one of the main reasons I have not done this yet.
Although this is New Year's Eve, I still have a half a days work and a turkey that needs to go in the oven by 10 am with supervision until it is done. If I am gonna walk I need to do it now or figure out some other way to get some exercise in for me and the Pup. Pat is leaving at 9:10 for work.
I am fortunate that I can juggle my schedule as I please so even if work does not get done now, the walk will and/or vise versa.
9:24 am - The walk came before work today :) Thank you, Pat, for waiting around with Alyssa so I could get a half an hour in today. Poppy appreciates it too. It was cold, but the more I got moving the warmer it got.
Now it is time to enjoy some oatmeal with dried cranberries and little brown sugar and milk.I am feeling motivated to start Dr. Oz's 7 Day Belly Work Out later this afternoon. Has anyone started this? Monday Day 1, Rock n Roll Up exercise...I will let you know how it goes.
If you want something bad enough you will do what you need to in order for it to happen.

Day 4 - Easier said than done...
8:04 am - It is cold. I do not want to go outside! I do not want to walk, all I want to do is stay snuggled on the couch and watch cartoons with Alyssa.
8:39 am - Alyssa is awake and ignoring my request for her to walk with me...just me and Pup.
9:53 am - Still getting motivated...shoes are on, jacket and scarf are near by...the sun came out so the air is a little warmer.
10:40 am - OK, did it! Took a half an hour walk with my pup in the woods. Felt good. I am so glad that I got my buns out of the house this morning! Had coffee and a banana for breakfast, not quite hungry yet but am dreading lunch decision making. Maybe oatmeal. Maybe peanut butter toast.
See you tomorrow!

A better, healthier, skinnier me
At some point a few years ago, I decided that I needed to be healthier. I started by making better choices in food. While, I feel that my daily choices still could get better (I am a sugar addict), I have come to love Brussels sprouts and salads without dressing.
The next step in this journey to better health is to make better choices on portion control and to begin exercising. Like I told my brother in law at Christmas, "I just need to eat less and move more". So that is just what I intend to do and this is where I intend to tell you about it...
Here is a picture of me now, as I start this journey to better health and a skinnier me.
Why am I doing this? I am 5' 3", 230+ pounds and 34 years old. I have an eight year old daughter who gets teased at school because I am big. She is active, I am not. Diabetes, obesity and heart disease run in my family; I want to see my 50th birthday.
Stay tuned....I will do this.

Cyber Detox: An eye opening experience
This last weekend I took a Cyber Detox. I heard about the concept on the news and thought that is would be worth trying since I had spent a lot of time on the internet lately. I was also a little concerned after hearing on the news that people are starting to get addicted to it. Could I be one of them? We live in a society that revolves around technology. The number of people in North America who use the internet has increased by 152.6 % since the year 2000. What are the outcomes? Well, like all things, time will reveal all the positive and negative outcomes but one thing is for sure, people are addicted to the internet and have their lives completely wrapped up in it. Banking, weight loss, hobbies, parenting, social media, you name it, there is an App for it! Just like any addiction, it will have an effect on your life.
I did not expect any results other than having more time to spend with family and to do a few things around the house. I knew that I would not miss Facebook or email – it was only going to be for two days. I also knew that I would be able to get back on line Monday just as usual. Time spent was watching Scooby Doo with my daughter, finishing a few projects, shopping with daughter, took the dog for a walk with daughter and just hung around the house with family. It was a wonderful weekend and the energy in the house seemed mellow. Just as I thought it would be.
The component of the cyber detox which surprised me was how often I found myself saying, “Oh, I will look it up on line.” What was it I felt I needed online? Our bank account balance, a recipe, the weather, parenting advice, health advice, and I had the urge to search Norse Mythology. I should also mention the numerous times I wanted to check in to Facebook. The realization on how connected my life is to the internet was, and still is, overwhelming. While I am probably the least connected person, as I only own a PC for internet use, I am just as connected as the person who sleeps with their iPhone. Perhaps more so because I also use the internet for work.
A friend of mine will sit and argue with me until no end about how Facebook is allowing Mom’s to “check out” which is creating a generation of kids (and families) who are completely disconnected. Pun intended! I never saw what she was saying because I am so connected to it myself. I see the good in it; and am aware of the bad. Now, I have experienced the bad in it. I can see what my friend is saying about how technology is shaping our lives, our kids and our future.
This makes me want to preserve what life was like before internet. What was life like before the internet? I was forced to pick up books to find the information that I was looking for. I was prompted to turn to my family for communication. I made myself wait for the weather until the 5 o’clock news came on and I survived without Facebook. I got a few small projects done and the house was clean ALL WEEKEND! My life was no way affected negatively by not being online; in fact, more positive came from it than anything.
Fact is most of us are way to connected to the internet and not connected enough with the things that really matter in life like family, our health, Mother Earth, our spirituality, our neighbors, our friends. Sad. It really is.
It is as strange to me to deliver these findings to you online as it may be for you to receive them. Truth is the only way to capture anyone’s attention is through the various sources of media that we have available to us. What do you do? It is the age that we live in now, we have to adapt. Overall, being on line is just like every other thing in this world besides air, it is best in moderation. Anyway, this is definitely food for thought.
Onward & Upward!
